Managing property in Islamabad or securing a work visa for Karachi? Significant changes have arrived for document legalities in Pakistan. While Pakistan joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2023, the transition is ongoing. For many legal, power of attorney, and commercial matters, the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C. remains the primary authority for attestation.
At US Apostille, we provide expert navigation through these changing rules. Whether you need a federal Apostille for your FBI check or a manual attestation for a Power of Attorney (POA), our D.C.-based team ensures your paperwork is accepted by Pakistani authorities without delay.
The Dual Pathway for Pakistan (2026 Update)
Depending on your document type and the requirements of the requesting department in Pakistan, we utilize one of two pathways:
Path A: The Apostille Route (Personal & Public Records)
Since 2023, many public documents are now accepted in Pakistan with a U.S. Apostille.
Documents: Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, and Educational Diplomas.
Process: Notary ➔ Secretary of State ➔ U.S. Department of State (Apostille).
Note: This route is increasingly accepted by NADRA and most universities in Pakistan.
Path B: Consular Attestation (Power of Attorney & Commercial)
For high-stakes legal matters, the traditional Embassy stamp is still the gold standard.
Documents: Power of Attorney (Manual), Commercial Invoices, and Agency Agreements.
Process: Notary ➔ Secretary of State ➔ U.S. Department of State ➔ Embassy of Pakistan Legalization.

Expert Insights for Pakistan Legalization (2026)
Online POA vs. Manual: The Pakistani government has launched an Online Power of Attorney portal through NADRA. However, many land registries in Pakistan still require the "Physical Manual Stamp" from the Embassy. We help you choose the right path based on your specific case.
Witness Requirements: Manual POAs at the Embassy require two witnesses. We ensure all witness documentation (CNIC/Passport copies) is verified before submission to save you a wasted trip to D.C.
Photo Standards: Unlike other embassies, Pakistan requires a photograph of the "Executant" to be pasted directly onto the Power of Attorney. We ensure your document is formatted correctly before the official seals are applied.
