However, Rwanda’s highly digitized government system means that simply having an Apostille is often only the first step.
At US Apostille, we navigate Rwanda’s unique hybrid system. We handle both the physical Apostille requirements and the mandatory Irembo digital filings required by the Embassy of Rwanda in Washington, D.C.

Digital-Physical Hybrid: While most documents are now Apostilled, Rwanda often requires a "Legalization of Foreign Documents" step via the Irembo portal. Being local allows us to coordinate the physical verification with the Embassy if your digital application flags any issues.
Hand-Carry Reliability: For documents excluded from the Apostille (like certain property deeds or specific government contracts), we provide direct hand-carry service to the Embassy in D.C.

State/Federal Level: Obtain an Apostille from the Secretary of State or the U.S. Department of State (for FBI checks).

Irembo Upload: The document must be uploaded to Rwanda’s Irembo.gov.rw platform.

The "Irembo" Requirement: Rwanda is a world leader in digital government. For 2026, almost all consular services must be initiated through the Irembo portal. We assist clients in navigating the "Foreign Affairs Consular Services" section to ensure their uploads match their physical documents.
Power of Attorney Exclusion: Rwanda has officially declared that Powers of Attorney for property may still require full embassy legalization rather than just an Apostille. We recommend the "Full Chain" for property-related documents to ensure they are accepted by the Rwanda Land Management and Use Authority.
2026 Fee Structure: Irembo fees are paid in RWF or via international card, typically around $25 - $50 per legalization. We manage these digital payments to ensure your application moves forward instantly.
